Disambiguation: Donald Edward Keyhoe (1897–1988), American Marine Corps officer and UFO disclosure advocate. Not to be confused with other researchers or persons with the surname Keyhoe.
Major Donald Edward Keyhoe (June 20, 1897 – November 29, 1988) was a United States Marine Corps naval aviator, writer, and prominent UFO researcher. A 1919 graduate of the Naval Academy, he served as a fighter pilot and later tour manager for Charles Lindbergh. After returning to active duty during World War II in the Naval Aviation Training Division, he retired at the rank of major. In 1949, Keyhoe investigated UFO phenomena for True magazine, publishing his landmark article "The Flying Saucers Are Real" in January 1950, which proposed that UFOs might be extraterrestrial spacecraft and sparked public discourse about government secrecy. In 1956, he co-founded and became director (1957–1969) of the National Investigations Committee On Aerial Phenomena (NICAP), the largest and most influential civilian UFO research organization in the United States during the late 1950s–1960s. Leveraging his military credentials and Pentagon contacts, Keyhoe systematically challenged the U.S. government's UFO secrecy and demanded public release of government UFO files, becoming the first major public figure to legitimize UFO research beyond "kooks and fuzzy thinkers."

Desambiguação: Donald Edward Keyhoe (1897–1988), American Marine Corps officer and UFO disclosure advocate. Not to be confused with other researchers or persons with the surname Keyhoe.
