Reginald Victor Jones (29 September 1911 – 17 December 1997) was a British physicist and the pioneering founder of scientific and technical intelligence (S&T Intelligence) during World War II. Serving as Assistant Director of Intelligence (Science) in the Air Ministry from 1939–1946, he solved critical strategic problems including the discovery of the German Knickebein radio navigation system and co-development of 'Window' (radar-defeating chaff). Post-war, he held the Chair of Natural Philosophy at the University of Aberdeen (1946–1981) and received the inaugural R.V. Jones Intelligence Award from the CIA in 1993. His 1978 autobiography, 'Most Secret War,' remains a definitive historical account of wartime British scientific intelligence.
