General Charles Pearre Cabell (1903-1971) was a U.S. Air Force officer and Deputy Director of the Central Intelligence Agency. Born in Dallas, Texas, he graduated from West Point in 1925 and transitioned from field artillery to aviation in 1931. During World War II, he commanded the 45th Combat Bombardment Wing in Europe. As Director of Air Force Intelligence (1948-1951), he dissolved Project Grudge and established Project Blue Book to investigate UFO reports more rigorously. Appointed Deputy Director of the CIA by President Eisenhower on April 23, 1953, he served under Allen Dulles until forced to resign on January 31, 1962, following the Bay of Pigs invasion failure. He died in Arlington, Virginia, on May 25, 1971, and was buried at Arlington National Cemetery.
