The All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) is an intelligence agency within the U.S. Department of Defense established on July 15, 2022, replacing the Unidentified Aerial Phenomena Task Force (UAPTF). Operating under the Office of the Secretary of Defense and overseen by the Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence & Security, AARO serves as the DoD's single focal point for investigating unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP) across air, sea, space, and land domains that could potentially threaten U.S. national security. The office investigates over 800 UAP cases, develops sensor technology, analyzes threat assessments, and produces congressionally mandated annual reports. Current director Jon T. Kosloski (since August 26, 2024) leads the office, which achieved full operational capability in December 2024.
